About This House

Hello, my name is Jim, a long-term resident of Santa Monica. For several years, I have been renting out two spare bedrooms in my home, primarily to international visitors. This has allowed me to connect with many wonderful individuals from across the globe. Photographs of some past guests are included above. To see me, please refer to the final photo where I am positioned in the center, flanked by recent roommates Douglas and Mohammed. A note of caution: exercise care as rental scams can occur in housing listings. I assure you my listing is completely legitimate, and I will ensure you feel comfortable before any rental agreement. Available Room and Terms

A fully furnished bedroom will be available on or around December 1st, with a monthly rent of $1250. The move-in date is flexible. As I frequently offer this room for shorter stays, I am also open to inquiries for January, February, or March of the coming year. Please specify your intended move-in timeframe. A fully refundable security deposit of $500 is required. Monthly rent includes WiFi and all utilities: water, electricity, and gas. I typically prefer short-term rentals of one to three months, as I enjoy meeting new people, but longer stays will be considered.

I am open to the possibility of two friends sharing the room for a slightly higher rent of $1500 per month. Please note this arrangement is for platonic friends only; couples are not considered. The room itself is quite pleasant, featuring a high-quality queen-size bed, a large teak armoire, a wall-length closet for storage, plus a desk, chair, and lamp. Photographs are provided above. I have a particular interest in other cultures and give preference to visitors from abroad, though all applicants are welcome. I provide all essentials, including clean, high-quality organic cotton bed linens and bath towels.

Apartment and Household Details

The apartment is a bright and airy three-bedroom, two-bathroom unit situated in a very safe neighborhood. It is conveniently located near public transportation, the beach, restaurants, grocery stores, and the Third Street Promenade. You will have full access to a well-equipped kitchen complete with pots, pans, dishes, and utensils. On-site laundry facilities are available. I am a respectful professional male who occupies one bedroom with a private bathroom. I follow a vegetarian lifestyle and would prefer a roommate who does not plan to cook or consume meat in the apartment. The household atmosphere is friendly, serene, and socially laid-back. Smoking and drugs are not permitted; moderate drinking is acceptable. We maintain an environmentally conscious home: we recycle diligently, use LED lighting throughout to conserve energy, and employ only all-natural cleaning products.

Expectations and How to Apply

Prospective roommates should be neat and clean, maintaining their personal space and common areas tidy, and washing dishes promptly after use. A social, friendly demeanor and an enjoyment of meeting new people are important. Age is not a barrier, provided you are mature, responsible with the home, and punctual with rent payments.
