Bookkeeper for Construction Business (Chatsworth)

A well-known signage company specializing in construction and property management, located in Chatsworth, California, is seeking a part-time bookkeeper to work on-site. This is not a remote position. The preferred applicant will possess three to five years of relevant experience, with a background in construction accounting considered advantageous.

Primary Duties

• Oversee all functions related to the general ledger, accounts receivable, and accounts payable.
• Handle accounts payable, including bill entry and payment processing.
• Manage accounts receivable, covering customer invoicing, payment recording, lien release provision, progress billing, and invoice submission to Vendor Café.
• Perform bank deposits utilizing a check reader system.
• Process in-house payroll via QuickBooks, including all quarterly and annual reporting.
• Reconcile credit card statements by entering charges and credits and verifying statement balances.
• Complete bank reconciliations and assist with cash flow planning.
• Prepare and file quarterly sales tax returns.
• Handle annual 1099 reporting.

Required Qualifications

• A high school diploma and an associate degree are required.
• A minimum of three to five years of prior bookkeeping or accounting experience.
• Experience in construction accounting is beneficial.
• Precise and prompt data entry abilities and proficiency with a 10-key pad.
• Practical experience and strong working knowledge of QuickBooks and Microsoft Office.
• Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Strong administrative skills and exceptional organizational capabilities.
• Capacity to perform effectively in a fast-paced setting with strict deadlines.
• Skill in setting priorities, managing personal task lists, and working autonomously.
