Responsibilities & Duties

  • Perform thorough evaluations of patient communication skills and create individualized treatment plans.
  • Deliver both one-on-one and group therapy sessions employing proven, evidence-based methods.
  • Evaluate and manage speech disorders, including issues with articulation, fluency, resonance, and voice.
  • Support patients in enhancing language abilities related to comprehension, expression, reading, and writing.
  • Manage swallowing and feeding challenges through targeted therapeutic strategies.
  • Work closely with interdisciplinary teams, such as physicians, RNs/NPs, occupational therapists, and other specialists, to ensure coordinated care.
  • Provide education and guidance to patients, family members, and caregivers regarding communication disorders, therapy approaches, and exercises for home practice.
  • Maintain accurate, well-organized documentation of patient evaluations, progress notes, and treatment plans.
  • Remain current with recent research, methods, and developments in speech-language pathology by pursuing ongoing professional education.
  • Oversee the maintenance and organization of therapy equipment and materials.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program; minimum of one year of relevant work experience.
  • Active and valid state licensure in California.
  • Proficiency in a second language; Spanish language skills are preferred.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) is strongly preferred.
  • Certification from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
  • Experience working with patients across various age groups.
  • Familiarity with a range of speech therapy methods and tools.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities; demonstrates compassion and patience with clients.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to documentation.
  • Experience using electronic health records (EHR) systems.
  • Demonstrated background in assessing and treating a variety of speech and language disorders.
  • Knowledge of diverse therapeutic techniques, interventions, and related equipment.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with patients, families, and interdisciplinary staff.
  • Solid analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to adjust approaches to meet the unique needs and preferences of each patient.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping.
