Experienced CNC Mill and Lathe Machinist
An aerospace machine shop situated in the San Fernando Valley, California, is looking for a skilled Machinist to set up and operate CNC milling machines and lathes, including models such as the Haas VF-2, VF-3, VF-4, ST-10, and the Hurco VM1.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with setup and operation of machinery to execute precision machining tasks.
- Properly align and secure workholding fixtures, cutting tools, and raw materials on the machines.
- Verify that finished parts meet all drawing specifications using precision measuring instruments like calipers.
Required Qualifications
- Three to five years of hands-on experience setting up and operating CNC mills within an AS9100 aerospace manufacturing setting.
- Practical experience with manual lathes and milling machines is necessary.
- Proficiency in mounting and touching off tools, as well as indicating vises and fixtures with speed and accuracy.
- Experience running production parts.
- Ability to effectively communicate machine-related and manufacturing problems to management.
- Commitment to maintaining machine cleanliness.
- Competence in using standard inspection equipment, including calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and thread and pin gauges.
- Possess strong communication abilities.
- Capable of reading and interpreting technical blueprints.
- Foundational knowledge of math, algebra, and trigonometry.
- Able to read and adhere to traveler instructions.
- Willingness to ask questions when uncertain—candidates who believe they know everything need not apply.
Position Details
Full-time positions are available on the first shift, from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM.
Part-time opportunities are also offered on the first shift, from 7:00 AM to 11:00 AM.
Compensation will be aligned with the candidate\'s level of experience.
