About This Service

I am a Candidate Master certified by the United States Chess Federation, with 35 years of experience playing the game. My teaching background includes instructing students in after-school programs and providing private, in-home tutoring for both children and adults. I have worked with children across the autism spectrum. My unique experiences also include teaching chess during a transatlantic cruise and serving as a chess consultant for director Mike Nichols on the 2007 film \"Charlie Wilson\'s War.\"

I incorporate computer-based learning tools into my lessons, utilizing specialized chess websites and databases. I adhere to COVID-safe practices and am triple-boosted. I am a graduate of UCLA and have undergone a background check with a clean record. My current students range from 5 to 9 years old, along with several adults, all based in the Santa Monica area. I also offer a hybrid tutoring option that combines chess with elementary-level reading, writing, and mathematics instruction.
