Secretary Position: Litigation Focus – Medical Malpractice

An insurance defense and medical malpractice law firm located in downtown Long Beach, California, is seeking a qualified secretary. Candidates must possess a minimum of two to six years of recent experience in civil litigation. Prior work in insurance defense and medical malpractice is highly desirable.

Required Experience and Skills:

  • Proficiency with Word, WordPerfect, Outlook, and Adobe software is essential.
  • A typing speed of at least 70 words per minute is required.
  • The role involves significant transcription duties and telephone work, including scheduling depositions and meetings.
  • Excellent phone etiquette, verbal and written communication skills, multitasking ability, organizational competence, and computer literacy are necessary.
  • Applicants must demonstrate strong calendaring capabilities and a thorough understanding of court filing deadlines and procedures.
  • Responsibilities will include the compilation and filing of various motions, such as those for summary judgment, along with all standard civil litigation pleadings.
  • The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, conscientious, detail-oriented, and able to initiate tasks independently.
  • A proven track record of productive work in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment is required.
